Hello my loves,
For those of you who don’t follow me on Instagram/ who don’t see me on a regular basis, you won’t know that our beautiful Springer Spaniel x Red Setter had to be peacefully put to sleep last Friday afternoon. I wanted to do a little blog post about him just to say goodbye, and to mark what a special dog he was.
He spent his last day eating treats, having a little bit of chocolate (which he loves, but can usually never have) and being cuddled immensely by his favourite people and when it was time to go, he all knew we were right there with him.
Jasper had spent the last year or so struggling with lameness and weakness in his back legs. Within the last half a year, he couldn’t run as much, he struggled to walk up the stairs and he just wasn’t as happy as he couldn’t do all of the active things he loved in life. Of course we still took him out as much as w could without hurting his legs more, but it got to the point where he didn’t even try to go upstairs, or he just wanted to go home on walks and we knew that his time was coming.
He was the best dog. He helped me when everyone else was asleep at some of my darkest moments and I will always be so so grateful for his love, compassion and gentle friendship.
Rest easy our boy, we love you always. Give mum a big cuddle from us.
