I’m coming to you on this lovely (although rather dreary and rainy) Sunday with something a bit different. I’ve seen a ‘trend’ floating around the blogging world of ‘5 things’. These five things can be things that have gone on in your life at the moment, five things you’re enjoying lately, five things that inspire you or just all of these ideas rolled into one. I’m going to be (hopefully!) doing this every month or so, to act as a little life update- similar to those who vlog on YouTube but in written form.
So, onto numero uno…
1. GOING TO THE WARNER BROS. STUDIO TOUR
On the 19th August, me, Dad, Will, Carolyn (my dad’s cousin who is fab) Steph and her boyfriend (also called Will) popped off to experience The Making of Harry Potter. As big Harry Potter fans (minus my Will, but I’m definitely getting him into it!) most of us had been before but this time it had loads of extra bits and bobs which were super exciting to explore- the forbidden forest and the Hogwarts Express were a couple of my favourites. For those of you who aren’t HP fans this won’t be exciting at all but for those of you who are, check down below to see some photos from the day…
2. SEEING SABS
Recently I saw one of my absolutely best friends after being apart for more than a year, that mostly being my fault as I have been usually too anxious to travel or have people over. Since my anxiety has improved though she came round for the day and it was so lovely. It was her birthday back in June so I decorated my living room with bunting and confetti and got her a traybake (Tesco traybake is our ‘thing’!) and some presents and it was just the loveliest afternoon catching up and laughing with each other again.
3. GETITNG INTO PEN PALLING
Something I have loved doing recently is getting into pen palling. My gals Julia, Lucy, Em and Sophie (and the lovely Emma who I’ve sent a couple of cards to!) have been such a pleasure to write to and me being suer creative, I have loved creating little bits I can send to them to make the letter extra special. I love learning about my friends and sending cards, letters, quotes and little snippets makes it extra special and personal.
4. A COUPLE OF DAYS WITH DAVID
Someone else who I’ve loved seeing recently is David. He goes to uni with Will in Aberystwyth and whenever I visit Will, I almost always end up meeting with David as well. He’s such a lovely guy and he came to see us for a couple of days for a catch up before term begins again. We went bowling, ate pizza, went for drinks and played mini-golf (I came second in both!) and it was such a lovely couple of days catching up and spending time with a fab pair of guys.
5. MY MINDSET CHANGE
Something that has been unexpected but really positive for me is how my mindset has seemed to change over the last couple of weeks. As you all know, I suffer with fibromyalgia and I think at first I was giving into it- I was lying in bed when my legs hurt and wouldn’t push myself at all. However recently I’ve been going on (dog!) walks a lot more and have been a lot more proactive about my condition. I haven’t let it get to me mentally as much and have been determined that I will get better and this in turn has made the pain so much more manageable. I can go up and down the stairs normally, walk faster and go on longer days out which in turn makes me happier, laugh more, and just enjoy life a lot more than I did a few of weeks ago. I don’t really know what caused this shift, but it’s definitely proved to me that a positive mindset (a positive mental attitude is what my mum used to call it) can really have an impact on your physical health.
And there’s my first 5 things post! What do you guys think?
I hope you’re all having the best bank holiday weekend,
All my love,
